Euro Area Consumer prices remain weak – food prices are already above the ECB’s inflation target

The Euro Area Consumer prices for December have just been published. According to today’s preliminary estimate, they´ve increased by 1.4% year-on-year. Expectations were 1.4% higher (1.5% in the previous month). The core rate (excluding energy and food) remains weak at 0.9%. At +2.2%, food prices are already above the ECB’s inflation target!

Producer prices for the euro-zone rose by 2.8% in November (estimated at 2.5%).
