Current: US retail sales significantly better than expected

At +17.7%, US retail sales (May) turned out significantly better than expected (forecast was +8.0%; previous month was -16.4%, now revised upwards to -14.7%). Compared to the same month of the previous year, however, sales declined by -6.1%.

The control group (i.e. the part of US retail sales that is directly included in the calculation of US GDP) is at +12.4% (forecast was +4.7%; previous month was -15.3%, now revised upwards to -12.4%).
