Current: US first-time applications for unemployment benefits increase massively

US jobless claims for unemployment benefits (for last week) rise to 3,283,000 (official forecast was 1.0 million; previous week was 281,000). US analyst firms had predicted between 1.2 million and 4.2 million initial jobless claims.

The continuing claims for unemployment assistance amount to 1.803 million (previous week was 1.7001 million).
