Current: US first-time applications for unemployment benefits

US jobless claims for unemployment benefits (for last week) rose by 1.314 million. (Official forecast was 1.375 million, last week was 1.427 million, but now revised down to 1.413 million).

This means that approximately 50 million initial applications have been made in the last seven weeks alone!

At 18.062 million, continuing claims are below expectations. (Forecast was 18.950 million; previous week was 19.290 million, now revised down to 18.76 million).
