Current: China – we know nothing about ceasefire in trade war!

A few minutes ago the spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Geng Shuang, denied the report of the “South China Morning Post”, according to which there was a kind of “ceasefire” (the temporary suspension of customs tariffs by the USA) in the run-up to the G20 summit in Osaka.

Beijing had neither confirmed nor denied the report about the ceasefire before – but Geng Shuang’s statements are a clear denial! The stock markets today are higher due to the report – actually this should now be priced out, because in case of uncertainty statements from the original source (China’s Foreign Ministry) should be taken more seriously than a newspaper report.
